Haramain train luggage allowance
The official baggage rules on the Haramain high-speed railway between Makkah (Mecca), Jeddah and Madinah (Medina) are stricter than most airline allowances — here they are, verified from the operator, with what they mean for a typical Umrah trip.
How much luggage can you take on the Haramain train?
Each passenger may bring one large piece of luggage up to 25 kg, with maximum dimensions of 65 × 55 × 35 cm (length × height × width).

What hand luggage is allowed?
One additional hand item per passenger is allowed — a backpack, laptop bag, camera bag, purse, nursery bag or similar. Seats have overhead shelves for hand luggage, and racks are provided for the large pieces.

What happens with excess or oversized luggage?
The operator's published baggage guidelines do not state an excess-baggage fee or a policy for items over the size and weight limits. Luggage passes a security check before boarding, so plan on travelling within the published allowance — anything beyond it is at the operator's discretion.
What does this mean for Umrah luggage?
The allowance is per passenger, not per family. In practice for a typical Umrah group:
- A family of five can check five pieces in total — one each, within 25 kg and 65 × 55 × 35 cm.
- Bulky extras — Zamzam containers, gift boxes, strollers — count against the same single-piece allowance if they exceed hand-luggage size.
- You also carry everything yourself between the platform, the station hall, and your onward transport at both ends.
The door-to-door alternative
A private transfer takes the whole load in one vehicle, hotel to hotel: our vans carry up to 10 passengers with up to 10 bags, with no per-piece weight rule and no station legs. For a solo traveller with one light bag, the train's allowance is rarely a problem — the trade-off matters most for families and groups.
